Graffick - Cavern (2019)

Cavern, the first music video from electronic artist Graffick, features dance, sand, sun, and sea as a means to tell the story of how we, as individuals and as a community, can beat the cycle of trauma and transcend it through our evolved strength, resilience, and compassion.

Starring Charlie Fierro and directed by Brendan Cleak and Caryn Sandoval, this musical short film expresses the relationship between emotional and physical trauma through the lens of feminine strength and eroticism, and the ancient omnipresence of the sun. The dancer uses the space around her to shift and grow as time puts space between her pain and her future.

Graffick - Osprey (2021)

Osprey – a film about the relationship between Earth and humans, told entirely through the use of decontextualized stock footage. Music by Graffick.

Released: 11.22.2021

Why stock footage?

This film started as an experiment. Was it possible to make a film composed entirely of sampled stock footage and still be able to tell the story that needed to be told? Could the mass of stock available online serve as an ironic representation of the endless need to create? Or would our fondness for aggrandizement and excess make such a story impossible to tell with the footage at hand?

The film that resulted straddles the line between a BBC-type nature documentary and an existentialist horror film, offering a stark warning for the current and future human race.

Blaine Counter, aka Graffick, is an independent electronic multi-instrumentalist who incorporates organic instruments in his records and live performances. In 2015, Counter nearly lost his life when he was struck and run over by a semi-truck while riding his bicycle. After nearly a year of recovery, he changed his performing name to Graffick and focused his career solely on art and music.
